About Trout

I bought the embroidery CD for this quilt last spring or summer. I knew the minute I saw the quilt that I had to make it for Joe. He loved it too, although we decided to change the main fabric color from the brown used in the sample to something more "watery." Here's the original pattern:

And here's our version. I finished the top today. I just love it (and so does Joe). It will probably be next weekend before I can quilt it.

Story Book Farm

I posted a couple of comments on the About.com forum about this quilt, and my friend Denise asked for some close-up pics. So, Denise, just for you...

Cute piggies :)

I love that the clothes pin onto the clothesline with little closepins :)

My friend Alison helped me cut out all the cows.

More Organizing

Over on the About.com quilting forum, there is a permanent Organizing challenge. There was recently a suggestion to use comic book boards to wrap fabric.

Ultrapro Silver Size Boards, 7 X 10 ½ (100/Pack)

So, I bought 300 (at $10 for 100, it was a small risk). I love this method! I managed to get what took a full unit to store in only two shelves. I also realized I have a lot of fabric. I've ordered 600 more boards. And, that probably won't be enough.

Just think: 1000 x .25 yard (conservatively) = 250 yards of fabric! And, that doesn't include the larger pieces I'm not wrapping.

This is what the shelves looked like before.... some semblance of order (sorted by color)....

And, this is my organized unit. This unit has just about the same amount of fabric as the one shown above. I did have to re-space the shelves, but I can get more on less space, so that's OK.

Back to wrap more fabric :).
